The Home Stretch

Well, here we are folks.  It's 2 days until the match?  Have you picked up your tickets yet?  If not go ahead and click here to grab them.

This is what the Ticketmaster seating map is looking like for Saturday as of 4:30p Thursday.

This map is a bit misleading as it looks as if 210,202, 222, 223, 229, 230, 119 and 113 haven't been opened up for sale yet.  (Just our opinion, no inside information.)  It's looking at this point (unless there are really weird pockets of non-released tickets) that there are around 6400 unsold tickets remaining for Saturday's match.  This number doesn't include Nordecke tickets, but our assumption is that the Nordecke is going to be sold out Saturday.

This would put the attendance number (if the match was being held today) at 13,745.  That would be the third highest attended match so far this year at Crew Stadium.  Here's the good thing.  The match isn't being held today.  It's being held on Saturday.  There's still walk up and last minute ticket purchases to account for.  This is a good foundation to build on.  Remember to continue to post about this event on social media and hang up posters, but the best thing you can do right now to help drive that number up even further is to call some friends and get them out to the stadium on Saturday.  Invite your family, co-workers, boss, neighbor etc.  Remember if you are going to bring a group to call the Crew FO as the sales folks there can hook you up with group discounts etc.  (Their number is 614-447-CREW)  Also there's an Ultimate Tailgate package for the match as well.  Ya know... for hungry folks.  There's still time.  Let's pack this place.

Also make sure to check out the Dispatch on Saturday.  We were interviewed about the operation by Adam Jardy and he is being pretty awesome and putting it in the newspaper.  Thanks Adam!

Also remember the prizes a couple posts down.  Check them out.

Last thing.  Steve Abreu from Boston bought 3 tickets in the Nordecke for us to give away.  If you or if you know someone who wants to come out, but might not be able to afford it let us know.  We're going to give them away to folks who need them.  If we don't get anyone with a need we'll give them away randomly to folks who Tweet/RT the #operationjune1sellout hashtag.

Contests/Prizes!

So Chris Schlosser from Major League Soccer was kind enough to give us some prizes to give away to help push this event.  We have 5 codes that will allow you free access to MLS Live for the rest of the season.  The Massive Report is also ponying up a prize as well.  15 minutes of being able to be the host of the Massive Report Podcast to talk about whatever you want.  I'm also hearing rumblings that there may be some other prizes as well.  If other prizes are offered I will either include them in these contests or create additional contests.

So here's how we're going to give these prizes away.

Twitter

One person who tweets or re-tweets the hashtag #OperationJune1Sellout will win a free access code for MLS Live.  Multiple tweets = multiple entries.  You may enter as many times as you like.  Tweets count until kickoff on June 1st.  A winner will be randomly drawn June 2nd.

Also thanks to our friends at Wrong Side of the Pond an additional tweeter will also win a T-Shirt from them.  A winner will be randomly drawn June 2nd.

Guerrilla Marketing

This one could be pretty fun.  The person who thinks of the most creative way to expose this event to the most people will win a subscription to MLS Live.  (Only rule is whatever you do must be LEGAL.  We honestly don't have enough money to bail you out of jail.)  A winner will be chosen by us June 2nd.
Posters/Fliers

Tweet a picture of yourself putting up a Operation June 1 Sellout poster (artwork below feel free to print) to @mattgoshert or comment on this post with a link to the picture or post it to the Massive Report Facebook page.  One person will be chosen at random to win a subscription to MLS Live AND a pair of tickets to the Kicking and Screening Soccer Film Festival in New York (new prize).  A winner will be randomly drawn June 2nd.
Results

Prove to us that you brought the largest group of people to the match.  It's simple.  Take a picture of your group in the parking lot, take a picture of your tickets, forward us a copy of the receipt for your group package, have your group sales rep let us know how many tickets you bought or whatever.  In essence, put your tickets where your mouth is.  Show us your passion for this club.  One person who ENTERS will win a MLS Live subscription AND the person who proves to us they brought the largest group will win the MLS Live subscription AND will get to host a 15 minute segment of the Massive Report Podcast.  Winners will be chosen June 2nd.

NEW PRIZES ADDED

A pair of tickets to the Kicking and Screening Soccer Film Festival in NYC June 18-21.  Thanks to http://www.kickingandscreening.com/ - check this out, it looks pretty cool.

Thank you's!

Press Release

Columbus Crew Supporters Plan “Operation June 1 Sellout”

COLUMBUS, OH – Columbus Crew supporters are banding together to help promote the match on June 1st at 7:30 pm against the Houston Dynamo.  The hope behind this movement, started on Twitter and the Columbus Crew Fan Podcast “The Massive Report”, is to sell out Columbus Crew Stadium for the match.

“It was just kind of this fun idea we had after the last match,”  Massive Report Podcast host Matt Goshert said.  “It’s something to do to raise awareness of the team’s next home game while spreading the word in general about the Crew.  The Crew’s attendance seems to usually pick up mid-summer and we were hoping as fans we could move that needle sooner and show the city of Columbus a good time in the process.  We have a lot of great grassroots marketing planned for this event.  We’re hoping that the local media picks up on this event and helps us propel it to the next level.”

The event will include posters (attached), fliers, promotion through social media and guerrilla marketing.  Supporters plan to post fliers all over town and work with local businesses to promote the event.  The aim of the event is to sell Crew Stadium out for the match, but success has a much simpler aim.

“We want to get a bunch of people and bring them out for either the first time this season or the first time ever,”  Crew Supporter Chris LaMacchia said.  “We want to engage the community in a positive way.   Whether they are sitting in the Nordecke (Supporters Section) or a family up in the cheap seats everyone who comes out is going to have a great time.”

More information on this event can be found on the event’s website at www.operationjune1sellout.com.  Tickets for the match can be purchased through the Crew’s website at www.thecrew.com or through Crew supporters groups at www.hudsonstreethooligans.com and www.crewunion.com.

POSTER!

Here's the official poster for the movement thanks to our good friend Justin Bell at Massive City FFC.  Please feel free to forward it, print it, share it, post it, tweet it etc.  Just use it to get the word out.
